These events are ones that the Graduation Committee has been planning over the course of the last year. These events are Iron Ring Stag (IRS), Gradball and the Yearbook.

Tickets will be on sale starting on Wednesday, January 20th in the Engineering Society Office (CPH 1327) from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Sales will continue every Wednesday following until we are sold out.

Tickets must be purchased with CASH or CHEQUE ONLY. Tickets will be sold on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. NO MONEY. NO TICKET. Cheques must be made payable to “Grad Comm”.

This is the party/celebration after you have received your Iron Ring. This event is by TICKET only. ONLY engineers who have been obligated and received their iron ring THE SAME DAY may attend. Traditionally, we wear black to IRS. Any coloured clothing will be removed at the door as a symbol of the transition from our colourful university life into a solemn professional life. This event is 19+ and valid ID will be required at the door.

Cost: $30

When: 9 pm – 1 am, Saturday February 6th, 2016

Where: RIM Park


  • Black Shorts for the event
  • Finger foods will be provided.
  • Shuttles will be run at regular intervals between DWE cul-de-sac and RIM Park beginning at 9pm and ending at 10:30pm. There will be return shuttles later in the night.
  • Free Coat Check.


Your Graduating Class yearbook is about 400 full colour pages of YOU!

$70, $5 for personalization

You have the option of personalizing your yearbook. The personalization can be up to 29 characters including spaces and will be printed on the cover of the yearbook in a gold emboss.  Yearbooks can be picked up at convocation.


It’s time to get fancy! This event is our big party where we all get dressed up, have a nice dinner and dance! This is a formal event.

Cost: $65 Per person

When: Saturday, March 12th 5:30 pm – 1:00 am

5:30 pm reception, 7:00PM Dinner: 10:00PM Dance

Where: St. George Banquet Hall

  • 4 course meal
  • Professional Photographers on site for Individual, Couple and Group photos

You are allowed to bring ONE date for an additional $65.

When you buy your tickets, you must pick your table number. Tables CANNOT be reserved. If you wish to sit with your friends, come at the same time to buy tickets together. There are 8 seats per table.




This is the solemn occasion in which you receive your iron ring in front of your peers and distinguished ringed engineers of the community. This is a FORMAL event, so dress in business attire. Only ringed engineers can enter the Iron Ring Ceremony.

You should have previously received an email from Cathy Seitz with very detailed information concerning the events surrounding the ceremony, but we have included a summary of the important dates as well.

Introductory Talks

All talks will take place on Tuesday, January 26th in AL 116 at the following times:

4:30 – 5:15 pm – Electrical, Computer, Software, and System Design

5:15 – 6:00 pm – Civil, Environmental, Geological, Chemical and Nano

6:00 – 6:45 pm – Mechanical, Mechatronics and Management

Iron Ring Fitting

The ring fitting will take place on Thursday, January 28th. You must bring $20 cash as a donation to the camp for running the ceremony. Paperwork is to be completed in CPH 3604 or 3602 before proceeding to the fitting in CPH 3607. The schedule is as follows:

4:00 pm – Mechanical and Mechatronics

4:30 pm – Environmental, Geological, and Software

5:00 pm – Electrical and Computer

5:30 pm – Chemical, Nano, Management and System Design

6:00 pm – Continuous

6:30 pm – Closed

** A – Li should line up at the West Door and Lo – Z should line up at the East Door.

PRE-Iron Ring Ceremony Celebrations

It is tradition to parade around campus on the morning of Friday, February 5th (the day before we get ringed). Please be respectful of all faculty members, staff and other students.

Please arrange all meetings with professors before hand. If any faculty members ask you to move on, please politely oblige.

If there are any incidents on this day, departments will NOT FUND our Gradball. You do not want to be the person who ruined Gradball for everyone.

There will be a countdown in the CPH Foyer Friday at 11:55 AM, to count down 24 hours until IRC AND to kickoff the IRC Pubcrawl!


All ceremonies will take place on Saturday, February 6th, 2016.

2:00 pm – Mechanical and Mechatronics

There will be a pre-address in AL 116 from which you will be escorted to the Theater of the Arts for the Ritual.

If you would like to be ringed by someone you know, they must have had their ring for a minimum of 5 years and you must submit the appropriate form (Temporary Warden form attached in the email from Cathy Seitz) to Camp 15 by Friday, January 22nd, 2016.
